SLUG Magazine’s second and final event in The Summer of Death Skate Series 2009: Road Warriors Announces Winners
SLUG Magazine’s second and final contest of the 2009 skate season went off on August 22, 2009. Summer of Death: Road Warriors took some of Salt Lake City’s finest skaters to three secret spots around the city for some serious street skating.
Those who came to skate did so in true Road Warrior fashion and made work tough for the panel of skate judges that included Tully Flynn, Jason Gianchetta, Keaton McDonald and pro skater James Atkin.
The after-party and awards ceremony was held at FRESH on 870 East 900 South. FRESH provided free hot dogs, Natty Light was available to wash down the dogs and Yudu was on hand screen-printing Summer of Death t-shirts, bags and grip tape. Other sponsor tents included the Board Bunnies, Dew Tour, Evolution Wireless, C1RCA and of course the SLUG Mag booth where contestants could spin a prize wheel and attempt to land a skate trick to win product from our sponsors.
When it was all said and done Brandon Hobush snagged third place, Israel West landed the second place spot and the prize for best trick and Sean Hadley nailed first place and walked away with $77 in cash from Sevenfold Skateboards, but not before also winning the award for best slam. Winners walked away with cool prizes from our sponsors: Yudu, C1RCA, Dew Tour, XSI Insurance, FRESH, Evolution Wireless, spnsrme.com, Odeus, Natty Light, Board Bunnies, Celtek, Sevenfold, Borosyndicate, Lenitech, F1ND, Milo Sport, Blindside, XMission, Salty Peaks, Skull Candy, FUEL TV and Bacon Skateboards.
